Theoretically, you could probably get away with importing it here. I mean, it’s mostly the same as the STi they sell here, right?

Only color, other than WRB, that I would choose for a WRX.

I’m glad you like it, my current WRX is in that color.

I dont think I could drive something with that bold color. I really like the Blurple and the white is also beautiful (obviously WRB as well). I think black would be one of my last choices....

It is wrong hand drive though. If it passes CA smog, it might actually be legal

The White is FANTASTIC.

Wrong hand drive is the least of your issues (and actually not an issue). You’d have to convince the government that not only does the engine meet EPA standards, but it meets crash test and FMVSS as well. You can bring anything in if you can bring it into compliance. But you might have to buy 3 or 4 to crash test in order to do it.

It’s still a WRX STi, do all special editions have to get tested? I think that generation just used the crash test results from a base Impreza. I get the EPA stuff, that might be tough. I’m not actually concidering buying one, but it is an interesitng thought experiment

Fortunately Subarus are just big legos, so if you can get the parts here they’ll almost certainly bolt on.

If the manufacturer wanted to bring it into the US they probably wouldn’t need a second crash test since they would be able to prove that they’d used all the same bumpers and safety equipment. If an individual wanted to bring it in you would have to prove the same thing, which is a little harder since you’re not the one who made it. I bet it is the same though, so it might just mean taking it apart and proving to the government that it’s “substantially similar” to the models already sold here.
